The signal strength should be 70-100% within a 100 foot radius.
If the signal strength is low, upgrade the firmware. Any previous configuration you've performed will be lost (ie wireless security). Before re-configuring your linksys, perform a hard reset as follows.
Hard Reset:-
1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds located at the back panel of the Router.
2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds.
3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button for 30 Seconds.
4. Release the reset button.
5. Power cycle( unplug the Power to the Router then to the Modem, wait for 1 minute then re plug the power to the Modem first and wait for 1 minute and finally re plug the power to the Router)
If your signal strength is still low, make the following Linksys config changes:
Beacon interval: 75
RTS & Fragmentation threshold - 2306
If after making the above changes, you signal is still low, the only option is to install a range expander, described below.
coverage 30-50 feet.
If your wireless client pc cannot find your router, try changing the routers channel to 9. The linksys can be set back to 11 once you've established your connection.
