Backup and remove previous versions of SQL Server (2005). Both 2005 and 2008 set a path environmental variable. If your organization utilizes SSIS or DTS (Import,export), include the following features when installing SQL Server 2008: Integration Services
Client Tools Backwards Compatability
Client Tools SDK
Management tools - basic and complete
Sql client connectivity Instance Features->Full Text Search Note: The Microsoft Management Console (required for import,export,data query) can be installed if you don't have sql server 2005 or 2008, see SQL Server Express
